We don't mean to pry, but in most cases, the house's age and condition parallels the condition of the exterior door locks.

Was the rental rekeyed during tenant turnover? *

Rekey definition: A lock rekey is when a locksmith changes the pins in the lock itself so that the previous keys won't operate it. It is usually cheaper to rekey the existing door hardware than to completely replace it. A lock rekey is great if you already like your current door knob and want a cost effective safety solution.

How many exterior doors does your rental have? *

The average home has three (3) exterior doors: a front door, a back door, and a fire door (the door that goes to the garage). Usually, the larger the house, the more exterior doors it has. An exterior door is defined as every door that goes from the living area to the outside of the home; balcony doors are considered exterior doors.

We refer to any room used or intended to be used for sleeping purposes in either a dwelling or sleeping unit.

Is there a smoke alarm OUTSIDE every bedroom? *

If bedrooms are adjacent and share a corridor, only ONE smoke alarm is needed OUTSIDE the bedrooms sharing the corridor. If, for example, the master bedroom is on the other side of the house, the master bedroom also needs to have a smoke alarm OUTSIDE.
